our farm
Vusi’s Farm is a fully climate-controlled growing facility located in the Merafong district west of Johannesburg, near Carletonville. We harvest strawberries from more than 2 million plants in our greenhouses and an additional 1 million plants in open fields.
Our greenhouses use hydroponic farming systems, which allow plants to grow without soil in carefully balanced nutrient solutions. This method improves water efficiency, enhances plant health, reduces the risk of soil-borne diseases, and ensures a consistent yield of high-quality strawberries throughout the season.
All seedlings are produced in our in-house nursery, ensuring quality and consistency from the start. Irrigation relies entirely on rainwater harvesting, with no use of ground or surface water. Pollination is carried out naturally by honey bees, supporting healthy yields and environmental balance.
Our operations are certified under Global G.A.P., and all pest and disease controls follow Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, reflecting our commitment to safe, sustainable, and responsible farming practices.
