environment
Vusi’s Farm is committed to operating in an environmentally sustainable manner by implementing innovative technologies. The farm produces zero effluent into local water sources as all water is recirculated and treated through ultraviolet (UV) and reverse osmosis (RO) plants. Additionally, rainwater is harvested from the roofs of the greenhouse and fed into water storage tanks for use on the farm. The greenhouses make use of drip irrigation technology, which is one of the most efficient water and nutrient delivery systems for crop irrigation. This technology allows each plant to receive exactly what it needs when it needs it for optimal growth. Drip irrigation ensures that farmers can produce higher yields while saving water, fertiliser, energy and also reduces the need for crop protection products.

skill development
Vusi’s Farm is committed to developing the skills and capabilities of its workforce through comprehensive in-house training programmes provided to all new employees. Many workers join the farm as general labourers and, through structured training and practical experience, develop valuable technical and operational skills during their employment.
Training programmes cover key agricultural competencies such as planting techniques, disease identification, and plant development monitoring. By the end of the training period, employees are equipped with the skills required to plant, maintain, and harvest strawberry crops effectively. Some employees receive specialised training in grading and sorting strawberries, enabling them to work in the grading and packing hall.
In addition, selected workers are trained in technical and maintenance skills, including welding and general farm maintenance, allowing them to progress into skilled artisan roles.
At the start of each season, all employees participate in a comprehensive induction programme covering health and safety, food safety standards, the company code of conduct, company culture, and practical on-the-job training, ensuring that all staff operate according to the farm’s operational and quality standards.
